MY Sports Club Story: Lakisha
It's not just a job; it's a journey. Meet Lakisha, a true NYSC veteran who has been a vital part of our family for an incredible 24 years! 🎈From the Front Desk to becoming a General Manager, Lakisha has worn many hats and made an indelible mark across numerous NYSC locations. We’re thrilled to feature her in our MY Sports Club Stories to discuss her journey and favorite memories over the years.
How long have you been part of the team at NYSC?I have been here for 24 years!
What is your role and has it evolved? My role at NYSC has consisted of Front Desk, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager across numerous locations including: 59th and Park, 80th and Broadway, E76th St, 34th and 2nd, 91st and 3rd, W94th St., Water Street, Varick Street, 36th and Madison, 41st and 3rd, 23rd and Park, and 48th and 6th
What is your favorite part about NYSC?My favorite part is seeing the different special moments such as witnessing results in the members who put in the work, watching a baby learn how to swim, or watching seniors gather together to stay fit and healthy for themselves and their families.
How has the brand evolved during your time here? The brand has had many inspiring mottos including our current mission statement: improving lives through fitness, as well as other campaigns over the years including “I built this”, Blank Better, Make Today Matter, Everybody Matters, etc. that always focus on what matters most: the member.
Do you have a favorite memory at NYSC?On April 10, 2002, I went into labor and my water broke with my daughter at the W80th Club so it will always have a special place in my mind.
