MY Sports Club Story: Barbie
We’re excited to feature our inspiring Florida member Sherene AKA Barbie, who found her fitness haven at our Crossfit Box at ATC (now NYSC). She is 74 and stronger than ever! She’s sharing how working out at NYSC improves her daily life, her favorite activities, and her best fitness advice.
Why do you love ATC (now NYSC) + why do you work out there?
I work out here because of the loving care Rich has for all his clients. He makes everyone feel so special.
How long have you been a member?
I have been a member for two years.
How did you get started on your fitness journey?
I got started when I wanted more out of my body than being an old lady. 😂
Favorite activities to do at the gym?
My favorite activities at the gym are when Rich has us team up and have a contest for who gets done first with the best score. Some are better at some activities than others since the challenges always change so everyone has a chance to win.
How does working out at our Club improve your daily life?
Oh my, it has extremely improved my life. Recently, we were getting a new mattress and the man that was removing it came to my door and said sorry the worker didn’t show up.🙈I told him “No problem I’ll help you, yes a 5 foot 120lb 74-year-old can help.” So he rolled his eyes and I picked up one end, and he was so amazed. I even showed him how to load it differently to make more room in his truck. I was so happy that I was able to help and he even said he would like to hire me. Wow, I’m always ready to help someone that can use my new strength. 🤗
Best fitness advice?
Best fitness advice is don’t give up. You can do it. Work through it, don’t stay home, and keep trying. I always try my hardest to be the best I can.
