MySportsClubStory_Adam_Newsletter

We’re excited to highlight our Government Center Club member + Fitness Content Creator, Adam. He’s been strength training at NYSC for the last 10 years! Adam is sharing everything from how he finds time for the gym, his go-to pre-workout snack, his best advice on reaching fitness goals, and what keeps him coming back to NYSC all these years!

Which club are you a member of?

I have a passport membership, but my "home gym" is the Government Center gym in Boston.

When + Why did you join NYSC? What keeps you coming back?

I joined NYSC way back in 2013. The Lexington location was a 5 -minute drive from my house and all of my friends went there, so it was a no-brainer. I've kept coming back because NYSC Clubs are everywhere I go! When I moved to Boston 4 years ago, there was a Club right down the street from my apartment. There's a gym right downstairs from my office in the Prudential Center. Even when I'm on the road in New York or DC, I always find a nearby club to work out at!

What is your favorite part about being a member at NYSC?

The consistency. All of your clubs have everything I need to get a great workout. They're never too crowded, the people are great - just an overall great experience.

What are your favorite activities to do while at NYSC?

I'm almost always there for the weights.

How do you stay motivated?

My passion is what drives me. I'm absolutely stoked to go to the gym every day. It's like a sport to me. Once you rewire your brain to love the process, you can't lose.

How do you balance going to NYSC with being a consultant/content creator?

I only spend 5 hours per week in the gym. A common misconception about fitness is that more work = more results. In reality, there's only so much volume you can do before returns diminish. It's less about the volume of work, and more about the efficiency/intensity of the work.

What does your diet look like?

My diet is a lot different from the typical "bodybuilding" diet. I focus on nutrient density and avoid highly-processed food as much as possible. I eat many animal products - red meat, fish, eggs, cheese, whey protein, etc. I get 6 pounds of meat delivered every Sunday from a local company I work with. Some other staples for me are blueberries, broccoli, and potatoes/sweet potatoes.

What is your go-to pre-workout meal before going to NYSC?

2 Bananas, a teaspoon of honey, 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt, and a scoop of caffeine-free pre-workout.
